Autism Speaks is the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization. It is dedicated to funding research on the causes, prevention, treatments and developing a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.

Assignment

Velocitas was engaged to handle a strategic public relations campaign for an annual high profile Autism Speaks event in honor of Light It Up Blue for Autism – a series of events held worldwide on April 2nd each year. The event’s mission was to increase exposure for autism and the organization in South Florida.

Velocitas handled the press, celebrity attendees, photographers and organizational planning of the event. The party was held at the world-renowned 1111 Lincoln Road Building in South Beach. Celebrities and Miami’s top influencers, including local political figures, filled the venue to raise funds for the organization. Moved to share their experience, guests engaged with their own social media audiences to spark conversation around the cause using #SFFblue.

Earned media garnered over 5,032,809 impressions.
